WordWave training helps Malaysian courts get ahead
The training, run by Terence NG, who manages WWIA’s contract with the Singapore Supreme Court, took place in Kuala Lumpur at the end of February. Eleven participants took part, including three representatives from the Malaysian Palace of Justice IT department and four people working as transcribers and court monitors.
As with most High Court proceedings in Malaysia, the training was conducted in English and Malay. Issues covered included style and formatting of transcripts, preparing and updating a glossary and quality checking. Terence also ran a series of one to one sessions with individual transcribers.
The training was part of an ongoing project WWIA is involved with to update court reporting in Malaysia. Together with partners SOLSIS the company has installed the latest recording equipment and transcription software, all aimed at creating a more accurate official record more efficiently.
