WordWave reaches for the stars – again
The interviews took place at the Soho Hotel in London in July and involved famous faces including Evangeline Lily, Dominic Monaghan and Jorge Garcia, who play Kate, Charlie and Hurley respectively.
Altogether, journalists carried out a series of roundtable sessions with six actors, conducted in five hotel rooms specially converted for the occasion.
WordWave captured proceedings in two ways. In some rooms, it provided its digital recording service, in which a technician uses state-of-the-art equipment to capture what is said. In others, a highly trained reporter was present in the room, taking down the interviews using a stenography machine.
For each room, a full, accurate transcript was produced within six days, as requested by the client, Buena Vista.
The project is a great example of how flexible WordWave’s services can be, according to Ispha Hazzard, its Media, Broadcasting and Communications (MBC) Account Manager.
“We weren’t sure how many rooms would be used,” she explains. “But luckily, we had more than one option for covering the job. Where we could, we used a technician plus digital recording equipment. To complement this, we were able to deploy as many additional reporters as were needed, drawn from our pool of experienced writers. Either way, the outcome for the client is the same: an accurate, cost effective written record in an electronic format that can be easily shared.”
It’s the second time this summer that WordWave reporters have helped a big name film and TV company capture interviews in this way. Last month, it provided a similar service for Warner Bros, which had organised sessions with actors from shows including the Sopranos, ER and the OC – see Helping Warner Bros spread the word in SoundByte July.
